Caliper Controls was founded in 2016 by Todd Shearer and Andy Herum, two seasoned engineers with a longstanding passion for motion control and automation technology. With over four decades of combined experience, Todd and Andy recognized a growing need for a manufacturer’s representative firm led by trusted professionals with a direct history in the engineering field, who could tailor solutions for their clients based on real-world experience.
Origins and Vision
Todd Shearer, with his background in Mechanical Engineering, and Andy Herum, who holds a degree in Mechatronic Engineering, both honed their skills while working at Galil Motion Control throughout various roles ranging from Applications Engineers to Production Managers to Sales and Distribution, where they each gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of motion control systems.
It was during these years that they identified a crucial gap in the market: a lack of personalized service and comprehensive support for clients navigating complex automation challenges.
